The means by which the user can access and change EARTH variables have now been described. It remains to consider at what points in GROUND the various coding sequences should be introduced, and for what purposes.

These matters are best introduced by way of example. Since the Encyclopaedia entry on GROUND contains or leads to full discussions of the empty subroutine GROUND, the exemplary subroutine GREX3, and of the associated GX subroutines, attention should now be turned to these.
